What is the best camera for street shooting black and white movies?
I, of course, we love a Leica M, but it can not be afford. I'm looking for something (as close as possible) comparable as possible. I realize that it is better to choose what feels right to the person behind the camera, but I'm not really sure what I want. I searched countless places of interest and looked back on eBay. I think of a single manual camera would be what I need … but what? The type of style I'd be closer to that of Garry Winogrand. I agree that 50mm focal length is the best, but I have to be taken other than you want an interchangeable lens. My budget is pretty tight this time. I want to keep it under $ 400. I have not had the wonderful experience of more than Canon in the past, but check the A-1 and it seems like an interesting perspective. I also think it would be better than a SLR rangefinder. Thoughts on this?
The Minolta Hi-Matic 7S II is a great little rangefinder and is perfectly suited for what you do. You can read review here: http://www.rokkorfiles.com It is generally available on eBay in all black or black and silver. The color black is applied to a higher price. I have the black version and is pleasant to use. NOTE: There were also a Hi-Matic 7S version. Be sure to call for tenders on the 7S II.
